The Society was formed over forty years ago, in 1982, by a group of people who believed there was a need to study the fascinating history of the villages and countryside nestling on the Yelverton side of Dartmoor, and to make an effort to record that history and the changes. Also, through conversations with fellow historians, to explore and share the much wider aspects and impacts on the local area and community of industry, commerce, population and national/global events.

Each month (except December) we invite a speaker to present a talk on their own specialist subject. During the Summer months, we run outdoor events with a visit to a place or location of interest for a tour or guided walk. Details on membership etc are on the ‘About’ page.
